Nigerian-British Business Forum officially takes off
Friday the nineteenth of August 2016 went down in history as the day when over a hundred leading Nigerian Entrepreneurs and high powered professionals gathered together at the Hilton Hotel in the prestigious settings of Holland Park in London to discuss broad based strategies of working together as a united front under the umbrella of the Nigerian-British Business Forum. With an estimated population of 2million UK based Nigerians controlling an asset base of approximately £57B and an annual remittance of £22B to Nigeria alongside an annual importation of Nigerian food estimated at £5B; the community evidently represents one of the most economically viable ethnic minority groups in the United Kingdom but the lack of unity over the years has somewhat deprived it of greater economic benefits enjoyed by more structured and focused ethnic groups in the UK. Thanks to the newly established business forum, a new focus and drive is now to be expected from a group of industrious Nigerians who are determined to make a positive difference by building strong economic blocs in the UK and structuring significant investment back to Nigeria. The evening also presented an opportunity for quality networking, dining and testimonial speeches from a number of leading Nigerian brands in the community. The event was concluded with a celebration and recognition marking thirty years of the forum’s founder-Afolabi Andu, for his relentless and selfless investment in the UK Nigerian community. A clear message at the end of the evening was that The Nigerians in the UK are now set and ready to embark on serious economic activities both in the UK & Nigeria.
